Physiotherapy Treatment Options
If your pet has suffered an injury, has weakened muscles and ligaments, or are experiencing the effects of osteoarthritis as they age, physiotherapy can be an excellent non-invasive solution to help them recover. It not only improves mobility and comfort but also prevents muscle wasting and further injury. With easy at-home exercises and referral centers, you can start strengthening your pet's body and getting them back to their best self!
Regenerative Medicine
Regenerative medicine offers a range of treatments that can help your pet heal faster and more effectively. Platelet rich plasma (PRP) injections are one such treatment that utilizes your pet's own healing power to help decrease inflammation and promote the healing of tissues. Additionally, therapeutic laser treatments can provide added comfort and further aid in the healing process. Trust in the power of regenerative medicine to help your furry friend feel their absolute best!
Cranial Cruciate Ligament Repair
Our Dr. Gheorghe has been trained by orthopedic specialists and is qualified to perform cranial cruciate ligament repairs (also called ACL or CCL repairs). He uses a method called Extracapsular, which means there is no implanted material inside the joint capsule. He uses medical nylon line in order to mimic the function of the torn ligament - therefore stabilizing the joint. Please see below for more information regarding pre- and post- surgical information with this procedure.
Luxating Patella Repair
Our Dr. Gheorghe has also been through the proper training in order to perform a TCT procedure, or tibial crest transplantation. This is used to correct luxating patellas, which is when a dog or cat's kneecaps pop in and out of their groove due to the groove not being deep enough to keep it in place. If not corrected surgically, this movement of bone against bone will develop arthritis much quicker than the average dog and when the kneecap pops in and out, it is uncomfortable for the pet. This condition is diagnosed by our veterinarians most often in toy breeds due to their size and already small bones. The corrective surgery deepens the groove to ensure the kneecap cannot move anymore. In addition to a TCT, we may also have to perform a trochleoplasty depending on the individual pet.
Orthopedic Radiographs
If your pet is experiencing lameness or discomfort, diagnostic radiographs (x-rays) can help determine points of injury, arthritis, or congenital issues. It's important to address these issues early on to ensure your pet's health and well-being. With our expertise on orthopedic health and access to new and successful treatment options, we can provide the best possible care and comfort to your furry friend.
